I am proud to announce that Beatrice does in fact love me and now knows I feel the same. Perhaps I would be able to enjoy the moment a tad more if not for the fact that my dear friend Claudio has slandered his would be bride Hero and now my love the very cousin of Hero wishes Claudio dead. He may be my friend and I would not wish to kill him for the whole wide world but Claudio is to pay the price for wrongfully accusing Hero. Claudio will die by my hand in a duel.

I never thought I would want to get married by now it seems I have been captivated by the very woman I claimed to hate. It seems Beatrice is madly in love with me, I would not believed it if I hadn't heard Leonato himself say this. A respectable man like him would say such a thing as a joke. Even Hero, Beatrice's cousin, claimed the same. With her testimony it must be true. They said she is beautiful, virtuous and smart and I know this to be true.I may be teased for wanted to marry due to how long I attacked the very concept of marriage. "When I said that I'd die as a bachelor, I just meant that I didn't think I'd live until I got married". I think I can see signs of the love they spoke of in her. To show my new found love for her I have shaved my beard and now ware perfume.

The masked ball I went to was alright except for when I saw Beatrice. She did not seem to recognize me which did not concern me except for the fact that Beatrice called me not knowing it was me the prince's fool. Though I did tell her I had heard that she was disdainful there was no reason to for her to refer to me well Benedick as such. Speaking of the prince he set out during the ball to woo Hero, Beatrice's cousin on behalf of Claudio, the poor fool was thrashing like a blind man when I saw him. Claudio seemed convinced that Don Pedro wanted Hero for himself till the marriage was arranged for Claudio and Hero of course. To think that Claudio who would laugh as men in love turned into fools has himself become one who uses flowery words.
